July 2014 - ministry update

PRAISE

  • Things are settling in for Ted at Operation Blessing, Intl
  • We are moved into the new house across the street.
  • Syndie's bonding continues to go well, so far.
  • Rebecca enjoying her ministry with Midwives for Haiti.
  • The project that she is helping on is going GREAT!
  • She just got her ACCEPTANCE into the midwifery program!!
  • We're blessed with an abundance of ministry opportunities.
  • Continuing to grow in our Kreyol....slowly...but progress.
  • Olivia finally found a job in TX.
  • Tania Grace started a new caregiver position that she LOVES!
  • Ana & Oliver are going to the US for a visit in September.

PRAYER

  • HEALTH - EVERYONE still suffering from Chikungunya arthritis.
  • Much of the local population also dealing with after-virus effects.
  • Rebecca's mom may have had it, she is having joint pain still also.
  • Rebecca had to send Syndie home from Hinche yesterday.
  • Rebecca will finish up her project for Midwives for Haiti next week.
  • Ted as he deals with his work & caring for Syndie alone until then!
  • Rebecca as she gears up for midwifery school (online) soon.
  • Decisions we need to make about one last US nursing contract for her.
  • The computer programming outsource PILOT - hope to start up soon
  • SAFETY...a daily mindfulness and divine protection for ALL of us!
  • Our kids in CA, TX & EU - facing lots of the young adult challenges
  • God's continued provision of safety, housing, good jobs & support.
  • Tynan still looking for a second job - pray for the perfect match!
  • Emma - continuing to make strides with new "grown up" goals.
  • Still waiting for a meeting with social services regarding Kervensley.
  • Provision of funds for Syndie's adoption paperwork to go smoothly.
  • Some kind of simple vacation on the horizon needed...!

March 2014 ministry update

PRAISE

  • A sense of peace in the midst of turmoil.
  • Tynan & Emma are doing well so far in California.
  • A fun visit from TX friends this month in Haiti.
  • Ministry team flooded our email box with encouragement & prayers.
  • Settling in well to our new house.
  • God's grace & provision of countless future options to consider.
  • One step closer to guardianship of two kids in dire need.

PRAYER

  • Guidance & clear discernment over next steps in ministry here.
  • Keep our eyes on Him alone & nothing on our own agenda.
  • Sleep, even when we have so much on our minds!
  • Tynan & Emma to have enough work to cover their expenses in CA.
  • each of us to seek God's presence in every aspect of life.
  • Olivia as she continues to work through her recovery program.
  • Potential ministry partnerships, vision, opportunities, plans.
  • We are researching a new Haitian business & training project.
  • Following up on a new possibility to partner on a birthing center.
  • God’s divine intervention for the two kids with medical needs.

SPECIFIC MINISTRY NEEDS / OPPORTUNITIES

We are at unknown monthly funding commitment at present! 

All of our support through Apparent Project comes to an end after March 31st, 2014. We are not quite sure yet where future funding will be received (working on it!)

We are also planning to start up a new 501c3, but as you know that carries an added expense as well. If you would like us to use your gift towards this, please shoot us a quick message to let us know!

If you would like to donate for future months or one-time gifts this month that would be greatly appreciated & will keep us BOTH on the field as we endeavor to switch gears midstream. Please make sure that they are received no later than 3/31/2014 in order for us to receive them.

January 2014 update

Praise 

- A truly blessed and rejuvenating family time over the holidays.

- Rebecca's contract is coming to an end in a few weeks & she'll be back in Haiti.

- Tania Grace passed her CNA certification exam on the first try!

- Tania Grace was able to take her first visit to "home base" in Haiti & loved it.

- Provision of resources that have brought us up to nearly full support for 2014.

- Papillion Enterprises is growing by leaps & bounds and gaining retail exposure.

- We've had pretty good health all around so far this season.

- Examples of God's love and compassion for our family as we enter the new year.

Prayer

- Ana & Oliver as they travel back to Germany next week.

- Ted as he returns to Haiti & begins to move our household again next week.

- Tynan & Emma are both starting part time jobs in CA the next couple of weeks.

- Rebecca as she finishes up her RN contract and applies for Midwifery School.

- Ted as he takes over the leadership responsibilities at AP in Haiti.

- As we work with IBESR (social services) regarding care for special needs kids.

- Longterm guidance as we develop new projects and funding to get them started.

- Peace and provision for Tynan & Emma as they gain independence here in the US.

- Tania as she returns to TX & continues to seek work there in her new field.

- Ongoing language learning...has been harder while in the US!

December 2013 update

Praise 

- God has provided refreshment, a new vision and passion for our work in Haiti.

- Rebecca was offered another RN contract in CA, near family & friends for the holidays.

- Friends have kindly loaned us a car & a sweet little cottage to stay in behind their house.

- Tania Grace finished her CNA training & just got hired in her new field of elderly care.

- Provision of a new house in Haiti - across the street from AP - for LESS annual rent!

- Papillion Enterprises added 50 more Haitian employees for the holiday season...more jobs = more kids being raised by their own parents…breaking the cycle of poverty!!

- Ana & Oliver will be back in California this month! Looking forward to time together.

- God’s faithfulness, love and understanding has been revealed to us in new ways lately.

Prayer

- Tynan & Emma as they look for jobs in CA and navigate education decisions.

- Rebecca as she writes project & grant proposals for a new birthing center.

- Ted as he continues to develop new Haitian business model projects.

- Current conversations with IBESR (Haitian social services) regarding a special project.

- Ted, Rebecca & Tania as we travel to Haiti this week and address immediate needs.

- Preparations for ANOTHER move in January.

- ALWAYS ongoing language learning...even harder while in the US!

- Year-end planning & meetings with the AP board in Washington State in a few weeks.

Needs

We are still in crucial need of individual and/or dedicated monthly donations going into 2014.

This will prevent Rebecca from having to extend her contract at the end of January, give us the stability to remain on task IN Haiti for the coming year(s), and for her to focus on midwifery training & the birthing center full time next year.

Our current budget is $2800/month & we received 40% of that amount the last two quarters.

August 2013 ministry update

 Praise

  • God’s continues to provide day by day.

  • Upcoming exciting Apparent Project opportunities for growth

  • Rebecca had the treat of getting to see Ana & Oliver while they were in the states from Germany and celebrating her mom’s birthday WITH her for the first time in years!

  • Ted, Tynan & Emma enjoyed a refreshing “pool day” last week.

  • Amazing “gifts” of medical supplies and medications have come in.

  • Rebecca recently received a grant towards her Midwifery Training

  • Growing relationships with co-workers in the AP work community.

Prayer

  • Continued stamina through the hottest months.

  • Against spiritual warfare which we have been very aware of lately.

  • Guidance & direction as we each continue to develop new projects

  • Rebecca as she is in the states now, updating the necessary RN skills & certifications, and laying the groundwork for beginning her advanced midwifery studies this year. 

  • Tania Grace as she prepares to move to California & start CNA school.

  • Electricity issues are STILL consuming too much time & effort

  • Decisions about next year’s housing and/or maintenance needs

  • Ongoing language learning...til we are able to converse at a heart level.

  • God’s leading & guidance in Ted’s business development research.

  • Clear direction & provision regarding a maternity/health center.

  • All of our kids as they continue to navigate their work & school.

    We are reaching a CRUCIAL situation...our support has dropped 60% in June & July. Thanks to TIMELY one time gifts that came in early August we have enough for this month. However we are faced with some tough news in a few weeks without the stability to continue living here & start large projects.
