May 2014 ministry update

PRAISE

  • God's continued provision & guidance.
  • Tynan, Emma & Rebecca's mom are coming in 1 week.
  • Olivia is HERE for the summer!
  • Syndie is blossoming, thriving, bubbling, beaming.
  • Ted's new role at Operation Blessing.
  • 100% living expense funding!!
  • An abundance of ministry opportunities.
  • Ted has an excellent Haitian manager for the 1st business.
  • Our Kreyol language acquisition is coming along.

PRAYER

  • HEALTH - Ted has Chikingunya virus now
  • 30% of the local population has come down with this virus.
  • Pray for the rest of us to be spared & no long term joint pain.
  • PRAY for the health our family coming to visit next week!
  • A blessed time with our family visitors in June.
  • Regular encouragement sources here & abroad.
  • Set up for programming outsourcing project office in June.
  • Ted has several months of orientation/transition at OB.
  • Rebecca's partnership with Midwives for Haiti.
  • We are still working with social services for custody of Kervensley.
  • Adoption paperwork details (HARDER here) & resources.
  • Details & preparation for upcoming ministry helpers in July/August.
  • Additional in-country staff to help manage projects.
  • We have to say goodbye to dear friends moving home next month. 

SPECIFIC MINISTRY NEEDS / OPPORTUNITIES

  • Financial Resources (monthly or one time gifts):

We are at 10% monthly funding commitment for living expenses through the end of June. We DO desperately need additional monthly or one-time gifts to carry us through until our new resources start.

As of July 1st we will be at 100% living expense coverage thanks to Operation Blessing!

April 2014 ministry update

PRAISE

  • God's faithful provision for us.
  • We get to look forward to a family visit in June!!
  • Syndie is WITH US, adjusting well & thriving.
  • International Hope & Heritage - partnership.
  • We now have more ministry opportunities than we know what to do with!
  • Ted has several employee candidates for the new business.
  • Our Kreyol language acquisition is improving steadily.

PRAYER

  • Continued guidance and direction with each of our projects.
  • ALWAYS have our eyes on him!
  • Health & good rest each night.
  • Tynan & Emma as they work & look at schooling options.
  • Olivia as she works through her recovery program.
  • Provision of resources for programming outsourcing project.
  • God's grace as we struggle with a growing sense of isolation.
  • Details related to Rebecca's partnership with Midwives for Haiti.
  • Syndie's continued growth, health & adjustment to family life.
  • A HEAP of paperwork & errands needing to be done for her adoption.
  • Potential need for additional in-country staff to help manage projects.
  • Discernment through some NEW opportunities that have arisen.
  • PATIENCE as we ALWAYS seem to be waiting on God for something!

We are at an unknown monthly funding commitment at present! 

While we don't know our exact total until everyone that is supporting us monthly gets switched over, we are pretty sure that it remains below our budgeted monthly needs. That means that we have enough to LIVE here at present, but NOT for our budgeted annual rent, travel or health insurance.

March 2014 ministry update

PRAISE

  • A sense of peace in the midst of turmoil.
  • Tynan & Emma are doing well so far in California.
  • A fun visit from TX friends this month in Haiti.
  • Ministry team flooded our email box with encouragement & prayers.
  • Settling in well to our new house.
  • God's grace & provision of countless future options to consider.
  • One step closer to guardianship of two kids in dire need.

PRAYER

  • Guidance & clear discernment over next steps in ministry here.
  • Keep our eyes on Him alone & nothing on our own agenda.
  • Sleep, even when we have so much on our minds!
  • Tynan & Emma to have enough work to cover their expenses in CA.
  • each of us to seek God's presence in every aspect of life.
  • Olivia as she continues to work through her recovery program.
  • Potential ministry partnerships, vision, opportunities, plans.
  • We are researching a new Haitian business & training project.
  • Following up on a new possibility to partner on a birthing center.
  • God’s divine intervention for the two kids with medical needs.
  • Clear plan/provision for developing a 501c3 or non-profit partnership.
  • PATIENCE as we wait on God for so many details to come together!

We are at unknown monthly funding commitment at present! 

All of our support through Apparent Project comes to an end after March 31st, 2014. We are not quite sure yet where future funding will be received (working on it!)

We are also planning to start up a new 501c3, but as you know that carries an added expense as well. If you would like us to use your gift towards this, please shoot us a quick message to let us know!

If you would like to donate for future months or one-time gifts this month that would be greatly appreciated & will keep us BOTH on the field as we endeavor to switch gears midstream. Please make sure that they are received no later than 3/31/2014 in order for us to receive them.

February 2014 ministry update

PRAISE

  • We are going back to Haiti with 100% monthly funding commitments!
  • Tynan & Emma both like their jobs & their jobs like them.
  • Rebecca ended her L&D contract & is leaving with “fresh” skills.
  • We are relieved that she will no longer have to be away from Haiti.
  • Three of the Haitian directors at Papillion Enterprise are in the US for their very first time RIGHT NOW to learn more about retail sales, help run a trade show and hopefully continue to build the company providing additional jobs for at risk moms & dads.
  • Ted has moved us into our new duplex & has it up & running already.
  • SO grateful for God’s presence every moment & every step of this journey.

PRAYER

  • The medical work going on in Haiti this week by a visiting group at the AP guesthouse.
  • For the many stressors that sneak up on us in this lifestyle & ministry
  • To return to Haiti on Feb 16th refreshed and ready for all that God has in store this year.
  • Tynan & Emma to have enough hours/work to be able to pay their expenses in CA.
  • The kids (& us!) as we prepare to live separately in the coming months.
  • Olivia as she continues to work through her recovery program.
  • Plans & provision for a quick trip to Texas again to move all of our stored items.
  • Continued direction & guidance for Ted as he looks at new Haitian business projects.
  • Rebecca as she seeks God’s clarity, moves forward, and weighs up some heavy decisions around her schooling & the maternity center.
  • God’s guidance & provision for two kids with medical needs that we’ve helped care for.

Individual and or dedicated monthly gifts are always welcome, however. We do have supporters who need to change their giving due to unforeseen circumstances & having others step into the gap as God leads truly helps to keep our minds, hearts & energies focused on our daily ministry in Haiti. January 2014 update

Praise 

- A truly blessed and rejuvenating family time over the holidays.

- Rebecca's contract is coming to an end in a few weeks & she'll be back in Haiti.

- Tania Grace passed her CNA certification exam on the first try!

- Tania Grace was able to take her first visit to "home base" in Haiti & loved it.

- Provision of resources that have brought us up to nearly full support for 2014.

- Papillion Enterprises is growing by leaps & bounds and gaining retail exposure.

- We've had pretty good health all around so far this season.

- Examples of God's love and compassion for our family as we enter the new year.

Prayer

- Ana & Oliver as they travel back to Germany next week.

- Ted as he returns to Haiti & begins to move our household again next week.

- Tynan & Emma are both starting part time jobs in CA the next couple of weeks.

- Rebecca as she finishes up her RN contract and applies for Midwifery School.

- Ted as he takes over the leadership responsibilities at AP in Haiti.

- As we work with IBESR (social services) regarding care for special needs kids.

- Longterm guidance as we develop new projects and funding to get them started.

- Peace and provision for Tynan & Emma as they gain independence here in the US.

- Tania as she returns to TX & continues to seek work there in her new field.

- Ongoing language learning...has been harder while in the US!
